The Ting Tings want label to drop them now

The Ting Tings have apparently asked their label Columbia to drop them so they have subject matter for their second album.

According to The Daily Star, drummer Jules De Martino reckons their album which is apparently leading the midweek charts will be hard to follow up.

Possibly hoping their label Columbia won't take note, De Martino joked: "We ripped up the rulebook for the first album. I think the second album will be really hard, so I've already asked the label to drop us again so we'll have something to write about."

The duo were previously in Manchester band Dear Eskimo, who were dropped by their label Mercury, which made the pair nervous about signing up again.

De Martino explained: "When it came to putting pen to paper we panicked. It was horrible. I fled to the Scottish highlands for a week and Katie hid at her mum's so they couldn't find us."
